How we can help you
At IRB Law, our lawyers will be able to advise you on the latest policies and updates of the trading law in Singapore. We will also inform you on matters relating to import and export laws, and what the civil and criminal penalties are for those who violate the laws. In Singapore, contracting parties will be automatically governed by the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) if they are both from contracting states. Generally, the provision in CISG on issues such as delivery, shipping and insurance take precedence over Singapore Law. You may choose to be governed by Singapore law instead and exclude the CISG completely or partially. The relationship between CISG and Singapore law may be complicated but our lawyers will help you better understand the pros and cons of choosing either. We can also help you understand the rules of the World Trade Organization, the organization that regulates trade. As lawyers, we operate on both sides. We give professional advice to Singapore companies doing foreign trade, and foreign businesses doing trade in Singapore.
Apart from aiding your comprehension of international trade law and providing appropriate guidance, we will assist you with valuation, rules of origin matters and goods classification. This will ensure you get the proper import or export permits you need from the Singapore customs. If your business should become immersed in an international trade lawsuit, our lawyers can provide professional advice and come up with appropriate resolution methods.
