Shukrina graduated with an LLB from Singapore Management University and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2022. She also obtained her Master in Laws from Duke University in 2024. Her area of practice include family, Syariah, probate, and criminal matters.
In her first year of practice, Shukrina successfully obtained favourable orders for many of her clients. Shukrina has been commended by the family court in a reported decision, for her passionate advocacy for her client through the Legal Aid scheme. Shukrina has appeared before the High Court, the State Court, the Family Justice Court, the MUIS appeal board, and the Syariah Court.
After her first year of practice, Shukrina obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) at Duke University. Shukrina was awarded the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, the Duke Merit Scholarship and the LBKM Merit Post-Graduate Scholarship. During her stint at Duke, Shukrina appeared before a judge in Asheville, NC, where she successfully petitioned for her client's criminal records to be expunged. Furthermore, Shukrina's negotiation skills at Duke Law was recognised, earning her the top spot in negotiation.
Dedicated to improving access to justice, Shukrina is currently a volunteer lawyer with the AWARE legal clinic, the Singapore Council for Women's Organisation legal clinic, and the Pro Bono SG legal clinic.
Outside the courtroom, Shukrina is interested in using legal technology to improve access to justice. Shukrina has worked with the Singapore Academy of Law to develop legal tech tools to assist migrant workers in their salary claims.
