POLICE OFFICER CLEARED OF BRIBE CHARGES

A police intelligence officer was acquitted yesterday of taking $24,500 in bribes from an Indonesian prostitute, his informant, in return for extending her stay.

District Judge Tey Tsun Hang acquitted Mr Yeow Beng Chye, 27, because he found the woman’s testimony to be “hopelessly inconsistent.”
