Jail for Murder Witness
The Straits Times, Thursday, February 6, 2003
A man who witnessed a murder but did not report it to the police was jailed for six months yesterday.
Willian Ho Kah Wei, 22, saw four friends assault loan shark runner and labourer Leong Fook Weng, 36, at a vacant plot off Kheam Hock Road in May 2000. Mr. Leong died from a stab wound to his chest.
Ho, formerly known as Soh Tan Huat, got the maximum jail term. A request to have the sentence back-dated to the day he was remanded four months ago was denied.
One of the four men is awaiting trial for the murder, another is serving time in a Cambodian jail while the other two are still at large.
