Sharmeela Begum

Sharmeela Begum is an Associate at the firm, recognised for her thoughtful advocacy, attention to detail, and client-first approach. She graduated with a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Singapore University of Social Sciences and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2025. Prior to entering the legal profession, Sharmeela spent seven years as an educator—a background that sharpened her communication skills, patience, and deep sense of empathy, all of which she brings to her legal practice today.

She holds a degree in Economics from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Her transition into law was driven by a long-standing passion for justice and a desire to support individuals through complex and often emotionally charged legal matters.

Sharmeela completed her training contract at a firm specialising in personal injury and property damage (PIPD) matters. There, she was actively involved in managing civil claims arising from traffic accidents, public liability, and industrial incidents. In addition, she gained valuable experience assisting in a number of criminal cases, further developing her courtroom exposure and understanding of procedural and substantive criminal law.

Currently, Sharmeela has a growing practice with a strong focus on family law. She advises and represents clients in both Syariah and civil divorce proceedings, including matters involving child custody and access, division of matrimonial assets, and maintenance. She also regularly handles matters relating to personal protection orders and the enforcement of maintenance orders.

In addition to her family law work, Sharmeela assists clients with will drafting, offering clear and practical advice to help individuals plan for the future with confidence.

She is known for her calm professionalism, measured approach, and genuine commitment to helping clients navigate legal challenges with clarity and care. Sharmeela remains actively engaged with the legal community and is passionate about lifelong learning and continuous improvement in her practice.
