Notary Public Fees

In Singapore, most fees for Notary Public services are fixed by law in the First Schedule of Notarial Public Rules, which include:

  • Witnessing the signing of the document by one person — $40
  • Witnessing the signing by a second person — $20
  • Witnessing the signing of the document by the company with declaration and exhibit — $150
  • Certifying a true copy of the original where seal is not required — $5 for the first page and $1 for each subsequent page
  • Certifying a true copy of the original where seal is required — $10 for the first page and $2 for each subsequent page

Additionally, a Notary Public in Singapore is required by law to issue a notarial certificate for each notarised document. According to the Notarial Public Rules, the fee for a notarial certificate is set at $75 per document.

Also, the notarial process in Singapore includes obligatory authentication of all notarised documents by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). The SAL Authentication fee is $87.20 per document.

Notarisation Process

The notarisation process for document signing includes verifying the identities of the signatories, ensuring they understand what they are signing, witnessing their signatures, and affixing the notary seal along with issuing a notarial certificate.

When certifying that a document is a true copy of the original, the Notary Public compares the original document with the copy and signs the copy with or without affixing the seal, as required.

Issuing a Notarial Certificate

Starting from February 2017, it has been an obligatory requirement for a Notary Public in Singapore to have a notarial certificate for each notarised document. The Notary Public issues a notarial certificate and affixes their signature, stamp and seal as a part of notarisation in Singapore.

SAL Authentication

Since October 2019, the notarisation of documents in Singapore has included obligatory authentication by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). The Notary Public submits the notarised documents together with the notarial certificates to the SAL to have the SAL’s Authentication Certificate affixed on the same or the next working day.
