Mr. Rabi has acted as a lead counsel in numerous trials and contentious applications in the High Court, including applying for and resisting interlocutory injunctions, mareva injunctions and anton piller orders. He has appeared as lead counsel in several appeals before the Court of Appeal.
He has also acted as lead counsel in construction disputes involving defect and payment claims for parties, defamation and injurious falsehood claims, claims involving business competitors, employment disputes, banking disputes, securities matters, intellectual property disputes, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, property cases, trust cases (resulting trusts and constructive trusts), insolvency matters, inheritance matters and aviation related disputes.
In the State Courts, Mr. Rabi has acted as lead counsel on contentious matters involving construction and renovation defects, payment claims, commercial and contractual disputes, product liability claims, property damage claims involving fire and water seepage, professional negligence claims, road traffic and workplace injury claims, and landlord and tenant disputes.
Mr. Rabi has acted as counsel in SIAC and ad-hoc arbitrations involving construction defects and payment claims between main contractors and sub-contractors, owners and main contractors, and management corporation and specialist contractors, contractual dispute over commissions between insurance company and insurance broker, and partnership disputes between partners of a professional firm/practice (law firm and medical practice as well).
Mr. Rabi also handles arbitration matters and acted as counsel for claimants and respondents for adjudication applications under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, including applications in the High Court for the setting aside of adjudication determination.
Mr. Rabi has also represented clients in several family matters involving non-contentious and contentious divorce proceedings, application for probate and letters of administration, application for guardianship of infants, and applications for appointment of deputies.
Mr. Rabi also routinely acts as counsel in non-contentious and contentious divorce proceedings before the Syariah Court and in an appeal before the Appeal Board.
Rabi appeared as counsel in a contentious Strata Title Board hearings involving property damages as well as disputes between neighbours of a condominium developments.
In disciplinary committee proceedings, Mr. Rabi acted as counsel for an accountant before a disciplinary committee constituted under the Accountants Act. Mr. Rabi has also acted as a member of a disciplinary committee of a private flying club.
Mr. Rabi is also actively engaged in criminal defence work. Mr. Rabi acted as lead counsel in trials in the District Courts and the Magistrate Courts in cases involving, amongst other offences, theft, robbery, outrage of modesty and other sexual offences, road traffic offences, and offences involving unlawful possession and consumption of controlled drugs, offences involving work place safety and health. He has acted as assisting counsel in trials in the High Court and appeals in the Criminal Court of Appeal in capital offence cases involving drug trafficking. Further, he appeared as counsel in coroner’s inquiries involving fatal motor accidents and drowning.
Mr. Rabi has provided effective commercial/corporate legal advice for clients as well. He has acted for a company in its application for debt restructuring under a scheme of arrangement. He has acted for clients in the sale and purchase of shares in local and overseas companies and the sale of business assets including intellectual property rights. He has also rendered legal advice on and drafted various types of commercial agreements such as shareholders agreements, distribution agreements, engineering, and construction joint venture agreements, software development and implementation services agreements, business management agreements, consultancy agreements, technical services agreements, professional services agreements, and aircraft co-ownership agreements.
Mr. Rabi is also a pilot and enjoys flying.
